What to expect from a class

A typical class is held in a large hall in a safe area with around ten to fifteen people, of mixed ability and levels of experience.

Except where otherwise stated all classes are suitable for experienced tai chi students or begginners.

There is no outlay needed, just comfortable clothing and soft shoes or warm socks. Each session costs £4, your first session is free.

Classes last for one hour - and are half and half Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

Tai Chi is non competitive and you work at your own level in the class. There are no forceful movements and the body will loosen up and bring small changes in the muscles and bone structure over time as you learn to relax through the practise. The main thing is to remember to do what YOU can do, there is nothing in Tai Chi that should hurt.

With relaxing you will find that tension will go from your shoulders and back of the neck.

With deep breathing and more oxygen entering the brain your thinking becomes clearer, your balance will gradually improve, together with coordination. Tai Chi practise has been well known to help prevent falls and improve balance.

Helps with lower back and the gentle movements are very good for arthritis. The breath control aspect also helps people with asthma.

We occasionally have lunches and also hold two parties a year for all students, which consist of doing Tai Chi and Qi Gong combined with a Chinese meal.

Many people have formed friendships from the classes and Pam aims to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.
